She tapped the page. âI bet thatâs where security will announce Guinevereâsdeath and question us about our movements during the time she was murdered.â
âIâm betting that Dad wonât want to go to that,â Skye said, knowing Jedâs opinion of standing around trying to balance a drink and a weenie on a toothpick while making inane small talk with strangers.
âYouâre right,â May confirmed. âWe were going to skip the party, but maybe one of youâand I mean Skyeâcould go with me.â She stared meaningfully at her daughter.
âThatâs a good idea.â Wally stroked Skyeâs knee. âAnd while youâre at the party, Iâll check out the scene of the crime.â
âBecause thereâs a good chance the majority of the security staff will be occupied interviewing the knitters,â Trixie guessed.
âExactly.â Wally patted his shorts pockets, then made a face and asked, âAnyone got paper and something to write with on them?â
âHereâs a pen.â Owen flicked open the pearl snap on the pocket of his Western-style plaid shirt and handed Wally a ballpoint.
âYou can use the back of this flyer advertising the art auction.â Skye slid him a sheet of paper extolling the value of investing in fine paintings. No matter how often she tossed stacks of circulars into the wastebasket, whenever they returned to their suite another pile was waiting for them in the diamond-shaped holder outside their door. âAnd if you run out of room on that one, thereâs a brochure from the spa and one from the jewelry shop.â
âLet me see that last one.â Trixie held out her hand, but let it fall to her side when Owen glared at her. âHey, I was just going to look.â
âSo we have Skye and May at the cocktail party gathering intel.â Wally jotted down a note. âIâll be at the nightclub looking over the crime scene.â He added that information to his list. âTrixie and Owen need tomake hard copies of the photos she took.â He narrowed his eyes, then shook his head. âOn second thought, itâs probably not a good idea to use the shipâs photography studio for that, even if they agreed to do it for you.â
âMaybe after the four of us do the Rhino Rider Boat Adventure tomorrow on St. Maarten, we can find someplace to print out the pictures ourselves,â Owen suggested.
âIn the meantime,â Skye said, leaning forward, âTrixie and Owen can track down that man we saw arguing with Guinevere at the Coronet Brasserie.â She reminded Wally, âThe guy she wasnât happy to see.â
âDo you remember his name?â Wally asked. âI canât think of it.â
âSomething fancy like Ashby or Emerson or Cullum.â Skye tapped her chin. âI thought of the
Little Mermaid
when I heard it.â
Both menâs expressions went blank.
After a second Trixie suggested, âPrince Eric?â
âNo.â Skye shook her head. âNot Max or Chef Louis or Ollie either.â
âWhat other male characters were there?â May asked. âSurely not Dudley?â
âSebastian,â Skye burst out. âThe crab who was King Tritonâs court composer.â
Wally and Owen exchanged perplexed looks, but Trixie and May nodded.
âHow are we supposed to find this Sebastian the crab guy?â Owen demanded. âDoes he wear a shell or something?â
âHe works for the cruise line,â Skye offered, ignoring Owenâs sarcasm. âBut he isnât an officer or a part of the crew.â She paused, thinking. âAnd he eats at the Coronet Brasserie, which means someone there should be able to tell you who he is and maybe even give you an idea of where heâll be.â
âOkay.â May stood. âWe all have our assignments.â She checked her Timex.
