shadow. Had she done
something wrong?
    She
sat on his lap, enjoying the feel of his arms around her as she breathed in his
masculine scent. God, she could get lost in this man. Her husband. He was her
husband. Her heart fluttered to and fro.
    “What
do you want to talk about?” she finally asked, pulling back to gaze into those
dark depths.
    “Our
roles in this marriage.”
    She
rolled her eyes. “Rick, we’ve been over this already.” She toyed with a button
on his shirt. “You want to wear the pants in the family. I get it. You’re a
caveman. Now make love to me. It’s our wedding night.”
    Rick’s
strange expression deepened into a frown. “You know I don’t like when you roll
your eyes at me. In fact, I believe I told you to stop doing that. It’s very disrespectful.”
    Sara’s
face fell and she returned his frown. “Lighten up, Rick. Jeez.”
    “Remember
all those times I told you that you would be a spanked wife?”
    Fear
lanced through her. “You’re kidding right? I mean, I thought you were joking
around. Sort of. Please tell me you’re not serious.”
    Gently,
he stroked her hair as he stared lovingly into her eyes. “Was I ever laughing
when I told you this? I think not. I’ve always been serious about this. I love
you very much, Sara, and that’s why I’m going to be so strict with you.”
    Her
mouth went dry. “I – I’m sorry I rolled my eyes at you. I won’t do it again.”
Oh my. She squirmed in his lap. Would he accept her apology and drop the stern
schoolmaster act?
    “It’s
our wedding night, and the first order of business is your wedding night
spanking. I’m going to take you over my knee and show you that I’m serious
about taking you in hand when you’re naughty.”
    Her
hair flipped about as she shook her head, eyes wide and lips set firmly
together.
    “Yes,
Sara. Now lay over my lap, young lady. The more you cooperate, the less it will
hurt.”
    “No,
Rick. You can’t spank me. I won’t let you. This is ridiculous. I never actually
thought you were serious about this whole head of household thing. Well, at
least the spanking part.”
    He
drew her chin up with one finger. “I expect you to obey me at all times, but if
you do disobey me, risk your safety, or show me respect, you’ll be going over
my knee for a long bare-bottom spanking. Those are my rules.”
    “I
promised to obey you. I really promised! I said it in our vows. Remember?”
    A
light smile drew his lips up. “I’ll never forget. That was my favorite part of
the ceremony. Well, other than our first kiss as husband and wife.”
    Sara
blushed. “Make love to me. Please.”
    “I
will – after you go over my knee. If I have to force you, I’ll spank you longer
and harder. Consider that before you try anything foolish, young lady. Now be a
good, obedient wife, and get across my lap.”
    Hands
shaking and lower lip trembling, Sara shifted and placed herself over his legs,
not quite believing this was really happening. Her chest tightened and hot
tears prickled in her eyes.
    A
spanking.
    Rick
was really going to spank her. On their wedding night, no less.
    Embarrassment
welled up inside her as he caressed her bottom cheeks through the thin material
of her dress. She’d changed out of her wedding dress halfway through the
reception, and she wore a slinky pink, knee-length dress. A thong underneath
and a push up bra. She’d felt sexy on the drive to the bungalow, but now she
felt shy under her new husband’s gaze.
    “I’m
spanking you now so that you know I’m serious about taking you in hand when you
need it. I believe the best marriages are those in which the roles are clearly
defined. I’m in charge, don’t ever forget that, Sara. I’m your master, and
you’re going to be my obedient little wife. Understand?”
    “Yes,
Rick.”
    “Yes,
sir,” he corrected. “When you’re bottom up over my knee, you’ll address me as
sir.”
    “Yes,
sir.” Holy Moses, he was serious. All those
