back of her mind and simply be happy when they were together. They’d
talk about how to be together this weekend and come up with a solution.
When the water lost its heat and before it took her
drowsiness away, she stepped out and dried off with a warm towel. Wrapping it
around her body, she pushed the end between her breasts and walked into the
bedroom only to be brought up short. The big hat was caught on the edge of the
armoire and its box resting on top. The clothes she’d brought with her were
hung up and the bag had been folded and sat on the floor of the wardrobe.
Without having to look around, she knew Max wasn’t anywhere
in the room. She felt his absence while taking in what he’d done to make her
comfortable. It was her turn to put him at ease.
Walking over to the bed, she pulled the towel off and lay
down on top of the duvet. Shifting onto her side, she watched the door, waiting
for him to come back from wherever he’d gone. If she knew her man, then it
wouldn’t be long before he walked back into the room. Unfortunately, releasing
her stress had relaxed her much more than she’d considered possible. Her
eyelids grew heavy and the long hours she’d been working finally caught up with
her.
After a few minutes of fighting it, she told herself it was
okay to close her eyes while she waited for him. She was only resting, not
sleeping.
The fib worked for a few seconds, then she realized she’d
fall asleep if she kept them closed. She wanted to be awake when he came in to
snuggle up beside her. It was too late. She’d tempted her senses with rest
until it became impossible to stop slumber flooding through her.
There was one last conscious idea to slip through her mind
before she fell asleep with a smile. She had no doubt when he returned he’d
wake her up with a kiss.

Chapter Ten

He tried to be patient but was too excited to get the
evening started. The festivities were going to be in celebration of her, but he
had to put his collar on her first. They’d talked about what such a step would
mean to them and had agreed it would solidify them as a couple. He wanted to
make the move to bring them together and soon.
Max curled up and pulled her closer. Eager to make a place
for himself, he nudged his hard-on through the crease of her ass and between her
thighs. Since the last time he’d peeked into the room and found her napping,
he’d helped the caterers get settled into their space. Afterward he’d taken a
shower and couldn’t deny her sensual call any longer.
Once he’d dried off, he’d crawled onto the bed and slipped
in behind his lover to wake her gently.
A picture of her naked except for his collar flashed across
his brain. An immediate response came from his other brain, which throbbed with
need. He wanted to rub the magic-cross piercing decorating his cock along her
moist walls. Fabulous, both brains are in agreement , he considered as he
nudged between her legs again.
    “Wake up, baby girl.”
“Mmmm.” Her sleepy response had him smiling.
“It’s time to get ready for the party,” he told her as he
gently pushed his cock against her rear, giving her a loving wakeup call.
She pushed her backside farther into his groin and wiggled
her soft ass around, teasing him to further hardness. He was tempted to take
her up on the pleasure she offered, but it wasn’t in his plans, at least not
yet.
Time was up, no more teasing. He was too eager to get things
started.
“Come on, up on your knees with your arms behind your back!”
When she grumbled in answer, he stood up and gave her bare ass a quick tap.
“Now, Cassandra.”
He didn’t wait to see if she did what he asked—he knew she
would. Fighting a smile, he moved over his chest of drawers, opened one and
pulled out a thin, elegant, black leather box. There was an elaborate gold
embossed logo on the front, one she’d immediately recognize. Despite
recognizing the emblem, she wouldn’t have any idea what was inside.
