clear her mind for an instant, wiping out the strange, restless striving for
satisfaction that had been driving her. As her body absorbed the solid strength of him Emelina came back to reality.
The important thing was to please Julian. She wanted that far more than she wanted to taste the ultimate passion.
She wanted Julian to be happy.
When he nipped at her throat with gentle savagery and began to drive himself into her with a passionate cadence
of growing desire, Emelina wrapped him tightly in her arms, arching her hips willingly to meet his.
“Yes, sweetheart,“ he grated fiercely, “give yourself to me. I need you so!“
Emelina obeyed, her whole being focused on satisfying him. She sensed that he wanted her to melt completely.
Julian needed to know that she couldn’t resist his lovemaking. Emelina bent all her energy on giving him what he
sought. Her hands flattened against the planes of his back and her legs held him tightly as she clung to him,
whispering the words she sensed he wanted to hear.
She tried to gauge the pace of his arousal, wanting to time herself perfectly for him. It was so important that he be
satisfied! Aware of the steady hardening of his body and the muscled tension beneath her hands, she decided the
    moment had arrived for him.
Willingly, eager to provide exactly the response he wanted from her, Emelina threw herself into imitating what she
felt must be a close semblance of the passionate convulsion that took hold of a woman at the completion of
lovemaking. She sank her nails carefully into the firelit skin of his shoulders, tensed her lower body as tightly as
possible and whispered his name over and over again in breathless abandon.
Emelina knew it must be an excellent reproduction of the real emotion because on the few occasions when she’d
tried to please her ex-husband with it, he had been egotistically satisfied with the effect.
But instead of following her performance with his own genuine burst of masculine satisfaction, Julian went still
above her. Emelina opened her eyes in confusion, aware of his hardness within her. What was wrong? she thought
frantically. Wasn’t he pleased? Why didn’t he react the way men were supposed to react at times like this? Had she
failed to satisfy him? Emelina knew a surge of fear at the thought. She had wanted so much for him to be satisfied!
“If you’ve finished with the theatrical performance, perhaps we could go on to the real thing?“ In the firelight,
Julian’s features were drawn and taut with controlled passion and something else, something very close to anger.
All at once Emelina felt very vulnerable. He hadn’t been fooled for an instant. Helplessly, hazel eyes wide and
pleading, she looked up into his face. What could a woman say in a situation such as this?
“Julian…“ She caught her breath, aware of the hard length of his frame covering hers so completely.
“Julian, I’m sorry. I can’t. I mean, I never have been able to and I…I…only wanted to please you.“ The words came
out in a sad little rush, and Julian’s eyes blazed with dark fire.
“Shut up, my sweet Emmy and follow me.“
His mouth came down on hers and his hips arched deliberately. Emelina gave up. She had done her best and had
failed. Now she could only cling to him while he headed down strange paths that she had never fully investigated. She
only hoped he wouldn’t be too terribly disappointed if she failed to follow completely.
With the burden of trying to satisfy him off her mind, Emelina found herself concentrating on her own emotions.
What were those flickering embers that were beginning to heat her loins and sent shivers down her spine? Where did
    this strange tension really lead?
Julian made love to her as if she were his whole world. He used his hands and his lips to tease and torment her as
Emelina had never been teased and tormented before in her life. She abandoned herself to the incredible experience, no
    longer
